By creating an account, subscribing to a paid plan, or otherwise using Arcanist’s Guidebook (the “Service,” “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time as described in Section 15.
Arcanist’s Guidebook is a Western esoteric reference tool covering tarot, runes, astrology, ceremonial ritual, and related traditions. Our guiding principle is that we are a librarian, not a teacher: the Service organizes and presents reference material — it does not instruct, certify, or claim to teach practice. Nothing on the Service constitutes professional advice of any kind (see Section 8).
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and that parent or guardian is responsible for any subscription purchases made on your behalf. By subscribing to a paid plan, you represent that you are either an adult authorized to make that purchase or have your parent/guardian’s permission and involvement to do so. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (see our Privacy Policy).
You are responsible for maintaining accurate account information and for safeguarding your login credentials. You agree not to share your account (particularly a premium account) with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limits. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Certain modules (Tarot, Runes, Modern/Vedic/Lilly Astrology, the Athenaeum examination system, Trust, and About pages) are free to any account holder. Other modules (currently Rituals, Shem, and Agrippa) are premium content, available either through an active paid subscription or, for select content, through progress earned within the Athenaeum’s Great Work system. We may add, remove, reorganize, or reclassify content over time as the Service evolves; we will not remove access to content you’ve already earned within the Athenaeum or paid for during an active subscription period.

Billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy Inc. (or its applicable affiliate) acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases made through the Service — meaning Lemon Squeezy is the seller you are transacting with for payment purposes, handles payment processing, applicable sales tax/VAT, and receipt issuance. Your payment information (card details, billing address) is collected and stored by Lemon Squeezy, not by us. Use of Lemon Squeezy’s checkout is also subject to Lemon Squeezy’s own Terms of Service (lemonsqueezy.com/terms) and Privacy Policy (lemonsqueezy.com/privacy). Some aspects of billing, taxes, refunds, and payment disputes may be handled directly by Lemon Squeezy in accordance with its own policies.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through the subscription management portal linked from your account page (or by contacting us if that link isn’t available to you); cancelling prevents future renewals but does not refund payments already made except as described in our Refund Policy below, and you retain premium access through the end of the current billing period.
Upgrades: You may upgrade from monthly to yearly at any time. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the then-current billing period rather than immediately.
Price changes: We will give at least 30 days’ notice, via email or an in-app notice, before any price increase takes effect for existing subscribers.
We keep this simple and no-hassle within the stated windows:
This refund policy is offered in addition to, and does not replace, any non-waivable rights or remedies available to you under applicable consumer protection law.
All content on the Service — tarot, runes, astrological, ritual, angelic, or otherwise — is provided for informational and reference purposes only. It is not medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and is not a substitute for consulting a qualified professional. Ceremonial and ritual content is presented as reference material for practitioners exercising their own judgment and discretion; you are solely responsible for how you choose to use any information found on the Service. We make no guarantee about outcomes, results, or the fitness of any content for a particular practice or purpose, and no representation that using the Service will produce any particular spiritual, magical, divinatory, psychological, or personal outcome — interpretive and historical material is presented for educational and reference purposes only.
We make a good-faith effort to source and present esoteric content accurately, and maintain a public Trust/citations page describing our sourcing approach. If you believe something is inaccurate or misattributed, please contact us — we take corrections seriously and will review and update the content as appropriate.
You agree not to: scrape, systematically extract, or republish the Service’s content in bulk; attempt to circumvent premium content gating or access controls; reverse-engineer the Service for the purpose of bypassing payment; interfere with the Service’s normal operation; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Except where otherwise indicated, all text, graphics, software, compilation, and organization of the Service are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws. The compiled reference content, design, code, and branding of Arcanist’s Guidebook are owned by us or our licensors. You retain ownership of anything you personally create within the Service (such as your Journal entries); by using the Service you grant us the limited right to store and display that content back to you as part of providing the Service. You are responsible for any content you create within the Service and represent that you have the necessary rights to it.
The Service relies on third-party infrastructure providers, including Supabase (authentication and database), Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), and Lemon Squeezy (payment processing). Your use of the Service is also subject to the applicable terms of these providers where relevant to their function. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on what data these providers process.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these Terms or misuse the Service, including attempts to circumvent premium gating. We may also discontinue the Service generally upon reasonable notice where practical. You may close your account at any time by contacting us; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data on account closure.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully accurate. We may modify, improve, or discontinue features of the Service from time to time; where a change materially reduces paid functionality during an active subscription period, we will act reasonably and, where appropriate, provide notice or an appropriate remedy. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service; our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amounts paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or hosting outages, natural disasters, government actions, labour disputes, or failures of third-party service providers. Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable Canadian consumer protection law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice (via email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in this section overrides any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the law of your own province or country of residence.
